Infrastructure Engineer
Infrastructure Engineer
On‐site | Manufacturing Environment | £55,000 + bonus
We’re working with a well‐established UK organisation within the manufacturing / food production sector, looking to hire an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join their on‐site IT function.
This role would suit a hands‐on, pragmatic infrastructure generalist who enjoys variety, ownership, and working close to the business rather than in a siloed corporate IT environment.
The Role
You’ll act as a senior technical escalation point, supporting and improving a mixed on‐prem and cloud estate, while also remaining comfortable rolling up your sleeves on lower‐level work where required.
The environment is evolving, with an increasing focus on cloud services (AWS in particular), alongside traditional infrastructure and end‐user technologies.
What They’re Looking For
This role is ideal for someone who brings:
- Cloud services experience, with a strong preference for AWS
- A solid background as a generalist Infrastructure Engineer
- End User Computing (EUC) knowledge, including modern workplace tooling (e.g. Intune)
- Confidence working across cloud, servers, networking, and EUC
- Experience supporting and improving environments with legacy elements or technical debt
- An ITIL‐aligned approach to support and service delivery
- Comfort working in an operational, on‐site environment (manufacturing / production sites)
Key Technologies & Skills
- AWS (supporting business‐critical systems)
- Azure (including backups)
- Hyper‐V and on‐prem infrastructure
- Networking (Juniper or similar)
- Microsoft 365, Active Directory, EUC tooling
- ITIL / ITSM processes
- Ability to work through limited or outdated documentation
Working Pattern & On‐Call
- 5 days per week on‐site (manager discretion)
- 40 hours per week
- On‐call 1 in 3 weekends (8am–8pm)
- Paid at £60 per day
- Call‐outs are reasonably frequent
Package
- Salary: £55,000
- Bonus: Discretionary, up to 10%
- Holiday: 25 days + bank holidays
- Pension: Standard employer contribution
- Extras: On‐site gym
- Subsidised travel from nearby towns
- Some unique on‐site perks tied to the manufacturing environment
Why Apply?
- True end‐to‐end infrastructure ownership
- Exposure to AWS and cloud‐led decision making
- Variety – no “ticket factory” or purely siloed role
- Opportunity to make a real impact in a growing, operational business
