£400–£500 per day | Outside IR35 | 2-month contract | ASAP start | Remote
We’re looking for an experienced Linux Endpoint Engineer to support the delivery of a Managed Security Operations Centre project.
This is a hands-on technical role focused on managing Linux desktop/endpoints through Microsoft Intune and deploying Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on Linux.
The role
You’ll be responsible for bringing Linux endpoint management, Intune and Defender together as an integrated endpoint management and security solution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Configure and manage Linux desktop/endpoints through Microsoft Intune
- Deploy and configure Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on Linux
- Support onboarding of Linux devices into the endpoint management and security environment
- Work closely with Linux, Intune and security specialists
- Troubleshoot and progress delivery independently within a short engagement
- Produce clear technical documentation
- Explain configurations and technical decisions to the wider team
- Provide knowledge transfer and upskill the internal team
- Support end users with specialist or complex Linux requirements
- Complete a full technical handover before the contract ends
Essential experience
You must have hands-on experience across all three of the following:
- Linux desktop/endpoint support – supporting Linux as an end-user operating system, rather than primarily Linux server administration
- Microsoft Intune for Linux – enrolling, configuring and managing Linux endpoints through Intune
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on Linux – deploying and configuring Defender within a Linux desktop/endpoint environment
You should be able to demonstrate how you have used Linux, Intune and Defender together in a real-world environment.
Desirable
- Ubuntu and Red Hat Linux
- Endpoint compliance and security controls
- Vulnerability management and detection
- Qualys VMDR or a comparable vulnerability management platform
- Wider Microsoft endpoint management and security services
- Understanding of synthetic device objects
