Contract Product Owner - £550 per day - Outside IR35 - London

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Owner to join a leading organisation at the forefront of fintech innovation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the company meets Outbound Open Banking regulatory standards , supporting the evolution of the core customer platform and enabling teams to deliver compliant, high-quality outcomes.

Role Overview

The Product Owner will work across engineering and product teams to deliver regulatory, operational, and technical improvements. This role will be instrumental in shaping the product’s long-term maintainability and compliance strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a plan to move the product team’s operating model toward engineering maintainability.
  • Support the adoption of internal deployment tooling through the engineering roadmap.
  • Deliver on OKRs to reduce incidents in Outbound Open Banking.
  • Execute quarterly deliverables within the Open Banking roadmap.
  • Drive the end-to-end product delivery lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, and support.
  • Collaborate on product roadmaps, communicate progress, and proactively manage risks and dependencies.
  • Write clear and actionable user stories and maintain a well-prioritised backlog.
  • Influence cross-functional partners to deliver initiatives to a high standard, on time, and within budget.
  • Define and track non-functional requirements such as resiliency and performance.
  • Capture and drive changes arising from evolving regulations.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience managing the full product delivery lifecycle within a regulated or complex environment.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable requirements.
  • Expertise in backlog management, roadmap planning, and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Experience producing clear product documentation (Epics, Stories, etc.) for engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Outbound Open Banking regulations.
  • Experience in a fast-growing fintech or financial services organisation.
  • Recognised agile or product management qualification.
  • Contributions to product or engineering communities.
  • Familiarity with App Insights or similar telemetry tools.
  • Experience developing or managing regulatory-compliant digital products.
