.NET Developer (CMS / Charity) – Remote (UK)

Senior .NET Developer (CMS / Umbraco) – Remote (UK)

Charity | Remote-first | Occasional office visit (once every 2 months)

We’re working with a well-established UK charity undergoing a significant digital transformation and modernisation programme. They’re looking for a Senior .NET Developer to play a hands-on role designing, building and supporting critical digital platforms used across the organisation and by the public.

This is a remote-first role, with an expectation to attend the office roughly once every two months for collaboration and planning.

The role

You’ll be a senior technical contributor across a Microsoft-based technology stack, working on a mix of modern applications, legacy systems and public-facing digital platforms. The role combines hands-on development, system improvement and close collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers.

You’ll work across both BAU support and project delivery, helping modernise systems, reduce dependency on legacy platforms and improve overall reliability, security and scalability.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing, building and supporting applications using .NET / C#, Azure and modern web technologies
  • Developing and maintaining APIs and system integrations (REST, middleware, third-party systems)
  • Supporting and improving CMS-driven websites (ideally Umbraco) and public-facing digital platforms
  • Helping modernise legacy applications and support system transition and replacement initiatives
  • Working closely with data and integration specialists to ensure robust data flows and reporting
  • Contributing to software standards, best practice, documentation and secure-by-design delivery
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external suppliers on solution design and delivery
  • Providing senior-level support and technical input on complex issues when required

What we’re looking for

  • Strong commercial experience as a Senior .NET / Full Stack Developer
  • Hands-on experience with .NET / C# (.NET Framework and/or .NET Core)
  • Experience building and consuming APIs and integrations
  • Solid experience with Azure (app services, hosting, identity, storage, etc.)
  • Experience with CMS platforms (Umbraco strongly preferred)
  • Good understanding of modern web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Experience working with SQL Server and application-level data
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Comfortable working across both support and project-led delivery
  • Strong communication skills and a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset

Nice to have (not essential)

  • Experience modernising legacy systems or supporting platform migrations
  • Exposure to Power Platform or hybrid/cloud environments
  • Experience working in the charity, membership or public-interest sector
  • Agile or hybrid delivery experience

Why join?

  • Work for a mission-led charity making a genuine social impact
  • Remote-first role with very infrequent office attendance
  • Technically interesting work across greenfield, legacy and integration-heavy systems
  • High trust environment with real influence over technical direction
  • Strong balance between good engineering practice and real-world delivery
