Job summary

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Data Insights to drive our Trust's strategy, harnessing the power of agile development, advanced analytics, and robust evaluation to deliver real-time, actionable insights for staff across the organisation.

As the Head of Data Insights, you will oversee the development and management of complex data systems, lead agile teams, and champion the use of data science and AI. You'll work closely with senior leaders, clinicians, and external partners to ensure our data platforms are responsive, secure, and support continuous improvement in patient care and operational efficiency.

Main duties of the job

o Lead the development and ongoing management of the Trust's cloud data platform, ensuring accurate, timely, and automated information delivery.o Oversee statutory dataset submissions, contractual returns, and financial feeds, acting as the technical lead for complex data vehicles.o Drive the Trust's analytics provision, coaching senior leaders and building capacity for data-driven change.o Develop and implement qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods, working with change programme leaders and university partners.o Represent the Trust externally with NHS England, ICBs, CSUs, and other national bodies.o Ensure compliance with statutory information requirements and information governance, including data protection.o Lead and inspire the Data & Analytics department, promoting a culture of empowerment, accountability, and professional development.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years' senior leadership experience in data disciplines within a large organisation.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.

Knowledge

Essential
  • Knowledge and experience of corporate governance and risk management approaches to data, analytics and development.
  • Proven track record in agile development, NHS data standards, and technical expertise in Microsoft BI tools (Fabric, Azure, SQL Server, Power BI, Excel).
  • Knowledge of quality improvement and measurement in healthcare.

Experience

Essential
  • Experience in leading data lake implementations and supporting NHS mental health data requirements.
  • Experience of manipulating highly complex data sets to produce automated reports.
  • Experience of leading data development using agile methodology

Skills

Essential
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex information to varied audiences.
