Job summary
We are delighted to offer 1.89wte posts top support our specialist nurse teams in renal. The posts can be full time or slightly less than full-time.The posts will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to our specialist nurses and facilitate, support and coordinate the infrastructure required for the effective organisation of the specialist nurses within the Department of Renal. Duties will include secretarial admin and audio typing. The post holder will need to be competent in a full range of IT packages including Outlook and Excel.
Main duties of the job
Communication and general secretarial duties (electronic calendar management), co-ordination of meetings. Managing and co-ordinating correspondence and sending appointments. Managing and updating patient database information. Collation of papers for clinics. Filing of reports (electronically). Using renal computer (Vital Pulse). Accessing and updating the EPR system with patient level details.

You would join an excellent, friendly and compassionate large Renal service that covers 1.6 million people, looking after over 1400 dialysis and transplant patients across a large geographical area including 4 trusts and 6 satellite renal centres in addition to our main hub unit at Royal Preston Hospital. Our specialist nurses work across Lancashire and South Cumbria providing support for advanced kidney care, anaemia, vascular, transplant and bone adequacy.

Provision of comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to our renal specialist nurses.
Competencies in a full range of IT including Outlook and Excel.
Managing external and internal telephone queries.
Coordinating incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Managing electronic diaries for specialist nurses.
Co-ordinating meetings.
Filing and booking system support.
Collation of papers for SPN duties.
Arranging clinic appointments.
Updating the Trust Electronic Patient records.

Person Specification
Knowledge & Experience
- Efficient in the use of Microsoft Word for Windows
- Experience of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and internet
- Previous secretarial experience
- Understanding of the role specifically in relation to sensitive information
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Previous administration experience in an NHS environment
- Previous audio typing experience
Qualifications & Education
- Good general education to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Secretarial qualification (RSA or equivalent experience)
- ECDL or equivalent experience
- RSA 1 & RSA 2 typing qualification
- Audio typing experience
