Senior Software Engineer - AI Projects
We are supporting a leading global consulting company with the appointment of a Senior Software Engineer to join its AI & Modelling team within their Risk practice.
You will help insurance clients design, build and embed AI-enabled solutions across finance, actuarial, pricing, capital and risk. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who can shape solution architecture, guide engineering delivery and turn emerging AI capability into robust, scalable solutions for regulated environments.
This is a permanent role operating at Manager grade and can be worked on a hybrid (3 day p/w) basis out of any of our clients UK offices.
The role
You will work closely with insurance specialists, actuaries, data scientists and engineers to deliver Generative AI, agentic AI and advanced analytics solutions from initial problem definition through to deployment.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the design and delivery of AI-enabled solutions for insurance clients across pricing, reserving, capital modelling, finance transformation and risk analytics.
- Shaping solution architectures for Generative AI and agentic systems, including data, models, orchestration, controls and integration with existing enterprise platforms.
- Working hands-on with technical teams to translate business requirements into practical, testable and scalable solutions.
- Providing technical direction, challenge and structure to engineering and modelling teams throughout delivery.
- Assessing emerging technologies and making informed decisions around innovation, risk, cost, scalability and time-to-value.
- Ensuring AI solutions are explainable, well controlled and appropriate for use within a regulated insurance environment.
- Building trusted relationships with client stakeholders and clearly communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
About you
You will bring strong experience delivering technology-enabled transformation within insurance or wider financial services, alongside clear hands-on involvement in technical solution design and delivery.
You are likely to have experience in several of the following areas:
- Generative AI and LLM-based solutions.
- Agentic AI, decision automation or workflow orchestration.
- Advanced analytics, data science or modelling in regulated environments.
- Solution architecture, software engineering and enterprise systems integration.
- Data pipelines, feature engineering and data platforms.
- Model lifecycle management, including development, testing, deployment, monitoring and governance.
- Designing and delivering technology solutions within insurance finance, actuarial, pricing, reserving, capital or risk functions.
You will be comfortable operating where technology and regulatory expectations are evolving quickly, balancing innovation with robust delivery and control. You will also have the leadership skills to guide technical teams without needing to be the deepest specialist in every area.
