Technical Cyber Security Specialist (OT/SCADA)

Location - Hybrid with 1 day onsite in Leeds per week

Rate - £700 pd Outside of IR35

Clearance - Valid SC

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Cyber Security Specialist with strong expertise across Operational Technology (OT), SCADA environments, and Cyber Security engineering. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, deployment, hardening, and support of cyber security solutions across complex OT estates, working within a multi-supplier delivery environment and engaging with technical, security, and programme stakeholders.

Technical Experience

  • Strong background in both IT and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure engineering.
  • Proven experience working with SCADA and industrial control system environments.
  • Experience deploying and supporting cyber security technologies within OT estates.
  • Demonstrable experience in security hardening of OT infrastructure and critical systems.
  • Strong Linux administration skills, including:
    • Physical server builds
    • Virtual server deployment
    • System configuration and support

Infrastructure & Virtualisation

  • Experience with:
    • Dell VxRail
    • VMware ESXi
    • Virtualisation platforms and associated infrastructure technologies

Network & Security Technologies

  • Proven experience implementing and supporting the Fortinet product suite, including Firewall and security solutions.

Cyber Security Tooling

Experience with one or more of the following technologies:

  • Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions
  • Carbon Black App Control
  • McAfee/Trellix ePO
  • Tenable Vulnerability Management
    • Nessus Scanners
    • Nessus Manager
  • Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
    • On-premises Certificate Authority (CA) implementation and management

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy and support cyber security solutions across OT and SCADA environments.
  • Implement security controls and hardening standards for critical infrastructure and operational systems.
  • Support the deployment and configuration of cyber security technologies, ensuring alignment with security policies and operational requirements.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation, design artefacts, requirements packs, and implementation guides.
  • Conduct technical assessments and provide recommendations for improving the security posture of OT estates.
  • Work collaboratively within multi-supplier delivery environments, managing technical dependencies and governance requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders across engineering, cyber security, architecture, operations, and programme governance teams.
  • Support vulnerability management activities, remediation planning, and security assurance processes.
  • Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer to internal teams to enhance organisational capability.
  • Contribute to operational readiness, documentation, training, and support activities.
