Are you an experienced leader with a passion for digital innovation in healthcare? Our busy Medicines Management Pharmacy Services department is seeking a highly motivated Digital Support Manager to join our team highly effective team.
Our Medicines Management Pharmacy Services department is at the heart of patient care, managing medicines and treatments across multiple specialties. The team manages over 30 digital systems on in use supporting around 750 pharmacy staff members in an organisation of over 20,000. These including clinical applications such as Electronic Prescribing Medicines Administration systems, stock control, fridge monitoring and supply chain management, we are committed to leveraging technology to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-focused services.
Main duties of the job
As Digital Support Manager, you will oversee both the technical and reporting teams responsible for maintaining, optimising, whilst working in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Digital IT Team (DiT). You will ensure seamless day-to-day operations, lead troubleshooting and incident management, lead digital projects and drive continuous improvements in system performance and user experience.
Your leadership will be crucial in:
Managing a diverse team of digital specialists and analysts
Co-ordinating system upgrades and integrations
Developing robust reporting frameworks to support clinical and operational decision-making.
Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders including LTHT DiT, clinical teams, and external vendors
Ensuring compliance with NHS data governance and security standards

Job responsibilities
The Postholder will manage the information and reporting systems that support the operation of MMPS. This will involve all aspects of digital work and include management and supervision of the digital Reporting and Technical Specialists. The Postholder will work with the Associate Lead Clinician Digital to identify and meet new demands for digital based services within MMPS and beyond providing technical insight whilst leading development work on reporting and leading digital implementation projects.
The postholder will:
Be responsible for the provision of a rapid-response - Digital Support service to MMPS (approximately 750 staff) and to manage the work of Pharmacy Digital Support Staff in their provision of a Digital Support service.
Take responsibility for maintaining the ongoing operation of all Pharmacy Digital systems: ensuring proper installation, performance, security, backup, audit and reporting services.
Undertake systems analysis in connection with proposed new systems and produce specifications for developers / suppliers.
Undertake research and development / programming work in connection with new / replacement Digital systems.
Take responsibility for liaison with the Trusts Digital IT Team and other suppliers/service providers and ensuring the proper adoption and adherence to Trust policies.
Share the responsibility for training, with a particular focus on IT skills development within the department.
Carry out the role of MMPS, Product Owner for the Helix IT Service Management software.
Be the bridge between technical and clinical when delivering IT solutions.

Qualifications
- Educated to Degree Level or holds a recognised qualification in an IT or Business related discipline.
- Has acquired further update qualifications since graduation.
Experience
- Knowledge of the various Business, Personnel and Technical issues associated with the delivery of an digital support service. Systems Analysis / Design / Programming / PC support / Diagnostic skills.
- Experience of Managing IT systems at a senior level within a large organisation.
- Experience of formulating technical standards and operational procedures.
- Experience of management.
- Knowledge of the Pharmacy Management System.
- Knowledge of: SQL, ODBC, PCs, Windows Servers, Networking, Backup,Web development: IIS, ASP, ASP.NET, SQL Server Active Directory MS 365 (particularly Power Bi), Crystal Reports.
- Substantial IT experience, at least 2 years at a senior level.
Additional Requirements
- Competence in PC / Printer fault diagnosis / component replacement.
