IT Technician Apprentice

Leger Education Trust is seeking to recruit an Apprentice IT Technician who will have an integral role in assisting with the development and implementation of the Trust’s IT strategy, and for driving forward best practice and compliance.

Role

  • To provide hardware and software support for PCs and laptops and other IT devices.
  • To maintain all peripherals within Leger Education Trust.
  • To assist in the ordering and maintenance of stocks of consumables and spares.
  • To install, configure and maintain new and existing software on to computers.
  • To perform complete installations on new PCs and Laptops.
  • To assist in ensuring that adequate backs of IT systems are maintained.
  • To assist in maintaining the security of the Trust’s IT systems.
  • Carry out record keeping and other routine clerical duties
  • To administer individual email and active directory accounts within the Trust.
  • To provide support for the users of the Schools Management Information System (SIMs).
  • To install, maintain and facilitate the use of projectors, audio systems and interactive whiteboards.
  • To support both staff and students in their use of computer systems in a timely manner.
  • To monitor the IT helpdesk and support the delivery of solutions in line with agreed Leger Education Trust IT service level agreement.
  • Answer users’ enquiries and, if necessary, refer them to an appropriate authority.
  • Any other duties as commensurate within the grade in order to ensure the smooth running of the Trust.
  • Observe safe practices at all times and comply with all school ICT policies.

Training

On completion, the Apprentice will be awarded the Level 3 IT Solutions
Technician Apprenticeship. The Apprentice will be awarded with the
accredited modules covering:

  • Methodologies and Principles
  • Core Technical IT Software OR Hardware (Option)
  • Security and Legislation

The training will be completed "on the job" at Campsmount Academy, DN6 9AS. You will be working with the Trust Team.

  • The Apprentice would have an IT Solutions (Hardware) qualification and could progress to an IT Technician.
