Junior Java Developer
Job Opportunity: Java Developer Equities Trade Processing Platform (London)
An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced Java developer to join a Global Equities Front Office technology team, supporting a real-time trade processing and client allocation platform known as GETS. This London-based role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining office presence with remote flexibility depending on operational needs.
The GETS platform is built primarily in Java and leverages low-latency messaging and in-memory database technologies. The role involves a blend of development and support responsibilities, including diagnosing production issues, implementing bug fixes, and enhancing the platform using both Java and a proprietary workflow/reporting framework. Collaboration with a global team to evolve the core framework and introduce new features is a key aspect of this position.
Candidates should bring strong analytical skills, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and familiarity with agile development practices. Prior experience in equities trading workflows and platforms such as Fidessa ETP and/or CTAC is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement new workflows using a proprietary Java-based framework
- Develop and maintain reporting features within the same framework
- Collaborate with global development teams to enhance platform capabilities
- Deliver permanent fixes for identified issues
- Build, test, and deploy software across Dev, QA, Production, and DR environments
- Contribute to SDLC automation using tools such as JIRA, Bamboo, and Ansible
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong proficiency in Java; experience with Spring, Hibernate, and Apache Ignite is a plus
- Skilled in writing complex SQL queries
- Familiarity with Fidessa Equities platforms (ETP/CTAC) is advantageous
- Experience with Unix/Linux command-line and basic scripting preferred
- Understanding of FIX protocol is beneficial
- Background in third-line support for equity trading systems is desirable
