Senior Market Data Developer – End-of-Day Pricing & Risk Infrastructure – London

Market Data Technology | EOD Pricing | Risk Infrastructure

LevelUp is recruiting on behalf of our client, a major global full-service investment bank and capital markets firm, for an experienced Senior Market Data Developer to join their Risk Technology organisation.

This role sits within a global team responsible for building and supporting a firm-wide risk platform that enables the Risk function to measure, analyse, report, and control exposures across market and credit risk. The successful candidate will focus on the design and implementation of end-of-day (EOD) market data solutions used across pricing engines and risk models.

This is a high-impact, techno-functional role, requiring strong engineering skills combined with deep domain knowledge of market data across multiple asset classes.

Key Responsibilities

Data Sourcing & Integration

  • Source end-of-day market data by region from internal front-office marking systems and external data providers.
  • Validate, normalise, and standardise market data across asset classes for pricing and risk consumption.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of market data inputs to downstream pricing and risk systems.

Data Modelling & Storage

  • Design and implement Snowflake data models to persist key market data, including:
  • End-of-day prices
  • Volatility surfaces
  • Credit spread curves
  • Discount curves and other risk-related observables
  • Maintain scalable and well-governed data structures optimised for analytical and regulatory use cases.

Infrastructure & Platform Development

  • Build solutions to deliver market data to pricing engines with high reliability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain Python-based ETL/ELT pipelines and optimise SQL queries for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Implement data quality checks, controls, and auditability across the EOD market data lifecycle.
  • Integrate with AWS services, including messaging (e.g. SQS), to support data readiness and orchestration workflows.

Collaboration & Governance

  • Work closely with Market Data, Risk, and Quant teams to define canonical market observables.
  • Partner with the Risk Orchestration team to ensure market data inputs meet requirements for pricing and risk analytics.
  • Maintain strong data lineage and governance to support regulatory and internal controls.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience developing applications using relational databases and big-data platforms within financial services.
  • Proven experience delivering market data platforms supporting pricing and risk calculations.

Technical Skills

  • Strong Python (pandas, numpy, data engineering best practices).
  • Advanced SQL and strong experience with Snowflake (schema design, warehouse management, streams/tasks, query optimisation).
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in production environments.
  • Familiarity with AWS-based architectures is highly desirable.

Domain Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of market data across multiple asset classes (Rates, FX, Credit, Equities, Commodities).
  • Knowledge of EOD pricing and market data inputs used for VaR, sensitivities, and stress testing.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex data issues.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
  • Comfortable escalating issues and following through to resolution.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.

Why This Role?

This is a compelling opportunity to work on mission-critical market data infrastructure within a global investment banking environment. You will contribute directly to the accuracy and reliability of pricing and risk analytics, working with modern cloud technologies and complex, multi-asset data sets.

The role offers a hybrid working model, competitive compensation, and the chance to collaborate with experienced technologists, quants, and risk professionals on high-visibility initiatives.

Relevant experience gained at a leading investment bank, asset manager, hedge fund, or market data technology firm is highly valued.
