Role:
The Service Delivery Engineer (SDE) - (senior infrastructure or cloud support role) is responsible for the technical ownership, stability, and continuous improvement of customer environments within the managed service, ensuring the reliable delivery of IT services and platforms to customers.
The role combines strong technical expertise with proactive service management to ensure platforms remain secure, reliable, and aligned with agreed service level commitments.
Acting as the primary technical contact for customers, the Service Delivery Engineer works closely with internal engineering teams and customer stakeholders to maintain platform health, manage technical risk, and drive continuous service improvement across modern workplace, cloud identity, endpoint management, and networking technologies.
This role requires strong stakeholder engagement and communication, working closely with both internal teams and customer technical contacts to support the ongoing evolution and optimisation of managed service platforms.
This role is typically suited to a senior technical engineer with strong customer communication skills and experience supporting modern cloud and endpoint platforms within a managed service environment.
Key responsibilities:
Maintain oversight of the technical health, stability, and performance of assigned customer platforms, reviewing monitoring and platform information to proactively identify and address availability, capacity, and performance issues. Act as the primary technical contact within the managed service for assigned customers, working closely with internal engineering teams and customer stakeholders to ensure reliable service delivery. Identify technical risks, service gaps, and optimisation opportunities across customer environments, supporting preventative maintenance and continuous service improvement initiatives. Ensure appropriate monitoring, alerting, and logging are in place to support effective oversight of platform performance, security, and operational stability in line with customer and internal policy requirements. Provide technical input into service reviews and reporting, contributing to discussions around platform health, service improvement, and future technical planning. Support incident response and problem management activities, assisting in the investigation of recurring issues and identifying long term remediation actions. Maintain accurate and up to date documentation for customer environments including platform configuration, operational procedures, and architecture diagrams. Support the transition of new or updated services into Managed Services, working alongside Project Managers and delivery teams to ensure a smooth handover into operational support. Drive automation, optimisation, and operational improvements to improve platform stability, efficiency, and service quality.
Role requirements:
Experience working within a Managed Services environment Experience engaging with customer technical teams and senior internal stakeholders Experience supporting modern cloud and endpoint platforms within an operational environment Typically three to five years experience in a senior infrastructure or cloud support role Microsoft Endpoint Administrator Associate certification MD 102 Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate certification AZ 104 Strong technical background with practical expertise in:
Microsoft Intune including device configuration, compliance policies, application deployment, and endpoint security
Microsoft Entra ID including identity management, Conditional Access, and authentication controls Microsoft Azure administration including identity services, monitoring, governance, and platform management Modern endpoint management including Windows Autopilot and device life cycle management Application deployment and packaging including Win32, MSI, and EXE application delivery through Intune Cloud networking and secure connectivity concepts including wireless networking, switching, remote access, and secure connectivity platforms such as Juniper Mist and Cato Networks Good working knowledge of networking fundamentals including switching, routing, VLANs, network segmentation, and secure access principles Certificate based authentication and device certificate management including Intune Cloud PKI, SCEP, PKCS, and certificate based authentication for WiFi or VPN access Understanding of cloud networking concepts and secure connectivity solutions Good working knowledge of networking fundamentals including switching, routing, and VLAN concepts Monitoring platform health, performance, and security across cloud environments Automation and Scripting using tools such as PowerShell Experience using IT service management tools such as ServiceNow or similar platforms

Experience working with Microsoft Graph automation
Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001
Familiarity with collaboration platforms including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive administration
Ability to mentor or support the development of junior engineers
