Director of IT, Data & Performance

Are you a strategic IT and Data leader who thinks in terms of impact, not just infrastructure? Do you want a role where technology genuinely enables better lives for the people an organisation serves?

We're working with a large, well-established housing provider in the North West to appoint a Director of IT, Data & Performance. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer, with real influence over strategy and a clear mandate to shape the future of the function. The role is hybrid with one day a week required on site, with an annual remuneration of £115,000.

About the Role

This is far more than a technical leadership role. You'll be responsible for IT, Data and Business Intelligence across the organisation, leading a team of 33 (2 direct reports), and taking ownership of the technology and data strategy that underpins everything from day-to-day operations to long-term organisational priorities.

IT is seen here as an enabler, not an end in itself. Your role is to help the organisation understand and unlock the value that strong data, insight and reporting can bring, and to make the connection between better systems and better frontline services for customers and communities.

You'll bring genuine foresight to the role: horizon scanning for emerging technology, sector and security developments, and translating that thinking into a clear, credible strategy that the wider business can get behind.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and lead a technology strategy and roadmap, including cyber security, architecture and IT change/release cycles
  • Deliver a company-wide data strategy, with strong governance, quality and a robust data management framework
  • Build a high-performing Business Intelligence function, adopting the UK Housing Data Standard
  • Develop and embed a performance management framework, tracking KPIs that inform decision-making and resource planning
  • Own top-level supplier relationships, ensuring value for money and strong partnership working
  • Provide expert advice to SLT and ELT, and present regularly to the Board on performance and significant projects
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of 33, building capability, confidence and a culture of continuous improvement

About You

  • Proven Director-level experience leading IT, Data and Performance functions, ideally within housing, local government, or another regulated public-sector environment
  • A strategic thinker with strong experience in reporting, insight and business intelligence (Power BI or similar)
  • ITIL or CoBIT certified, and PRINCE2 certified (or equivalent)
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Confident navigating cyber security and regulatory risk
  • Curious and analytical, with the ability to listen first and solve second
  • A strong communicator, able to build trust and credibility at Board level and across the wider organisation

Why Apply

This is a genuine opportunity to shape the strategic direction of IT, Data and Performance in an organisation that puts service to its communities at the heart of everything it does. You'll have the platform, the visibility and the mandate to make a lasting difference, building capability, embedding confidence, and proving the real value that a modern, well-run function can bring.
