Operational Tehnology IT Specialist - Manufacturing
Our client has an opportunity for a Information Technologies Specialist to join them on a contract basis until April 2026 with possibility to be extended.
You will plan and carry out activities to ensure the information systems inside production assets are well serviced, taking responsibility for IT deployment, machine software configuration, validation, scheduled maintenance and IT reactive maintenance. As well as the upgrade and disposal of IT business owned software, business owned information systems hardware, business owned IT network devices as well as business owned operating systems.
Role: Specialist: Information Technologies within Operational Technologies
Location: Filton, 100% onsite
Hours: 35 per week
Hourly Rate: £36 per hour via Umbrella, inside IR35
Clearance: BPSS required to start
What you'll be doing:
- Identify, categorise, diagnose and resolve IT in OT related problems at industrial asset level
- Plan, install and configure software and hardware
- Manage network equipment at machine level
- Manage accounts and workstations
- Maintain and secure passwords, file system security and data integrity
- Manage, maintain, update and upgrade systems, Operating Systems and Software with new releases
- Support new projects, data flow evaluations and budget/time calculations
- Build Hardware and Software documentation and inventory, responsible for IT related data management
- Manage hardware and software licensing
- Maintain backup and restore means according to policies
- Support IT components disposal according to policies
- Monitor systems according to policies
- Apply relevant security measures such as antivirus / security patches / network segregation
Requirements:
- Experience working within an IT services and support environment within a manufacturing operational setting
- Previous experience working within an Industrial environment supporting/maintaining Information Technology/Systems is preferred but not essential e.g. Numerical Control, SCADA, HMI
- Knowledge of Cyber Security practices ideally within an industrial context, being able to critically assess at 1st level the physical and digital security of assets
- Experience in performing Installations of Security software & system patches, ideally in an industrial context
- Experience of performing & maintaining software and database backups is desirable . Including restoring those backups within the Industrial Assets
- An understanding of Networking infrastructure
- Planning & scheduling for Maintenance and Licence Management
- Effectively Managing IT documentation
- Leadership or Participation in IT projects with a basic understanding of project management
- Good Understanding MS Operating Systems including legacy systems
- Working knowledge of the Google Workspace Environment a plus but not essential
- The ability to communicate effectively to both IT professionals and end users.
