SCC Database Manager
On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a SCC Database Manager on an initial 6 -month contract. As the SCC Database Manager you will support the administration, maintenance, and configuration of mission-critical database systems within a spacecraft operations environment. You will be responsible for ensuring system availability, data integrity, and effective resolution of technical issues.
Role: SCC Database Manager
Pay: Up to 41.71 per hour Via Umbrella
Location: Chippenham
Contract: Monday - Friday 37 Hours per week, 6 Months contract
IR35 Status: Inside
Security Clearance: Security Clearance on submission, UK Eyes only project
Responsibilities
- Perform database maintenance and update activities
- Implement database changes as requested through change management procedures
- Release new databases on system
- Maintain database change control documentation
- Perform routine data and software backup and archiving activities
- Perform routine system maintenance and housekeeping activities to ensure optimum performance
- Diagnose and rectify system failures
- Re-start subsystems to recover from failures
- Support the Software Manager in system, software and database configuration management activities.
Essential Skills:
- 1-2 years' experience in database administration or system support within a spacecraft operations, aerospace, defence, or other mission-critical systems environment.
- Experience supporting and maintaining Oracle databases.
- Knowledge and practical experience with the following operating systems:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Solaris
- Windows Server 2012
- Windows Server 2022
- Windows 10
- Ability to provide technical support in a high-reliability operational environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to support complex IT systems.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working within space, satellite, aerospace, defence, or other safety-critical operational environments.
- Relevant industry certifications or further technical training would be advantageous.
