An Event Scenic Draftsperson - CAD here works alongside specialists in every material discipline, ideas travel fast between departments, and the culture is genuinely sociable. The Role
The Event Scenic Draftsperson - CAD sits at the heart of the production process, transforming creative concepts into precise construction, bench and CNC drawings, managing projects from first brief to workshop delivery, and helping the wider drafting team raise its game.
- Produce detailed construction, bench and CNC drawings using AutoCAD and 3D software
- Manage multiple projects independently from concept through to completion
- Liaise with the workshop floor on queries, adjustments and fabrication coordination
- Develop and specify build methods, materials and techniques for each project
- Research and test innovative fabrication methods and materials
- Support and mentor junior drafters with their development and progression
- Attend occasional client meetings and site surveys as required
The Candidate
The right Event Scenic Draftsperson - CAD will have solid, demonstrable experience drafting for scenic fabrication or a closely related field, with strong proficiency in both 2D and 3D AutoCAD. You will have an extensive working knowledge of carpentry and metalwork methods, a background in workshop or technical environments, and a proven record of keeping complex projects on track under tight deadlines.
Candidates from adjacent technical or fabrication backgrounds are very welcome to apply. What matters most is a hands-on understanding of how things are actually built, the ability to adapt quickly when specifications change, and a collaborative instinct that makes the team around you better. Experience with an Event Scenic Draftsperson - CAD remit gained outside the events sector is equally considered.
