TouchDesigner Software Developer
For the past 10 years, Live Wire has worked across Formula 1, supplying technology to the major teams and F1 Management. Our work varies from constructing viewer experiences in teams' hospitality suites, paddock, garages and factories elevating each of the 24 races a year. We work closely with our suppliers to deliver pioneering technology and integrate innovation into all of the work we do.
Live Wire provides AV technology for all genres of events including Festivals, Concerts, Conferences, Theatre and Dance. We work with large concert halls in London such as Southbank Centre, Barbican, Sadlers Wells to provide technicians, support and equipment.
Job Description:
We are seeking a talented Touch Designer Software Developer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, implement efficient code, and contribute to the overall success of our projects. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement interactive video and graphics solutions using TouchDesigner and related programming tools
- Build dynamic, large-scale interactive projects
- Optimize for performance and reusability (i.e., a repeatable setup for future client work)
- Collaborate with stakeholders to iterate on look, motion, and experience
- Create seamless visual transitions across multiple displays
- Deliver a clean, well-documented TouchDesigner files that can be reused and modified
- Create bespoke solutions that push the boundaries of interactive media and immersive technology
- Collaborate with creative and design teams to translate UI/UX wireframes into high-quality code
- Maintain existing TouchDesigner-based solutions, providing remote support when necessary
- Develop RESTful APIs and integrate third-party APIs as needed
- Develop custom shaders, scripts, and modules tailored to project-specific needs.
- Incorporate video programming with emerging technologies such as VR, AR, and IoT
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and software inventory
- Generate reports on system performance, software upgrades, and recommendations for improvements
- Stay updated on the latest trends in interactive media, video programming, real-time rendering, and web development
Requirements:
Essential
- Proven experience developing in TouchDesigner
- Familiarity with multi-screen setups
- Familiarity with tools such as Resolume, Vmix, Notch, Blender, Max/MSP, or Unreal Engine.
- Strong knowledge of video processing, real-time rendering, and interactive media systems.
- Proficiency in web development languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React, Vue, or Next.js.
- Proficiency in Python essential; GLSL shader knowledge a plus.
- A creative mindset with the ability to solve complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Desirable
- Knowledge of AV hardware and Experience with educational, cultural, or experiential installations
- Knowledge of GPU optimization for real-time rendering
- Previous work with high-profile clients or events
- Interest in creating a scalable/reusable design systems
- Experience with backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Express, Python Flask/Django) and database systems (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, Firebase).
