Deputy Head of Digital Intelligence - Pharmacy and Medicines
Job summary
We are seeking an experienced senior analyst to provide dedicated digital intelligence leadership for Pharmacy and Medicines, supporting safe, effective and value-based use of medicines across Cheshire and Merseyside secondary care. This is a key post within Digital Services, partnering with senior Pharmacy colleagues to deliver high-quality, high-reliability reporting, insight and modelling that informs operational and strategic decision making.
You will lead the design and delivery of bespoke intelligence solutions for Pharmacy and Medicines, manage an analyst resource, and provide specialist expertise in NHS data, medicines reporting and advanced analytics. You will translate complex information into clear, actionable insight for clinicians, senior managers and executive teams, enabling robust governance, assurance and continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
Lead development of medicines and pharmacy intelligence solutions, dashboards and reporting.
Provide expert analysis, including forecasting, modelling and statistical techniques to support planning and performance.
Ensure reporting is accurate, secure, robust and fit for purpose, with reliable data flows and strong information governance.
Act as a trusted business partner to Pharmacy leadership, supporting medicines governance, assurance and value improvement.
Communicate analytical concepts clearly and provide specialist advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
Contribute to service improvement, benchmarking and external reporting/audit requirements.
Represent the Digital Intelligence service at internal and external forums, supporting cross-system working.

Job responsibilities
- Leads the design and delivery of high-quality data, reporting and analytics to support medicines services across the Trust and wider system.
- Provides expert analytical advice, translating complex data into clear insights for clinicians, senior managers and executives.
- Develops advanced analytics and modelling (forecasting, benchmarking and scenario modelling) to support strategy, performance and financial planning.
- Ensures robust, accurate and secure data systems and reporting aligned to NHS standards and policy.
- Leads strategic intelligence planning, interpreting national policy and translating it into local reporting and decision support.
- Builds relationships across the Trust and externally, representing digital intelligence in key forums.
- Supports service improvement, audit, research and benchmarking through data-driven insight.
- Line manages and develops staff, contributing to a high-performing analytical function.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Masters degree in relevant subject or degree in relevant subject and experience to Masters level
- Recognised project management qualification
- Recognised programme management qualification
- Further qualifications in Health Informatics
Experience
- Demonstrable NHS experience as a senior information analyst
- Experience in managing pharmacy and medicines related data
- Ability to interpret and develop predictive modelling
- Ability to take ownership of problems and resolve them in complex, cross functional situations involving many stakeholders
- Ability to anticipate, prioritise and co-ordinate work to deadlines in routine and pressurised situations to competing timescales
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of staff, professionals, senior managers and Executives, internal and external to the Trust
- Experience in market analysis
Knowledge
- Knowledge of Data Protection legislation and patient confidentiality agenda
- Expert understanding of Commissioning Structures and requirements
- Understanding and knowledge of other relevant Trust IT systems and external IT systems relevant to Information Flows
Skills
- Excellence in use of MS Windows and MS Office
- Excellence in the use and SQL and date cubes
- Excellent written and verbal communication manner and ability to produce high level reporting
- Able to achieve high standards of robust analytical output with exceptional attention paid to accuracy and detail
