Tax Engineer

About Loctax

Loctax is a tax technology company. We build software for tax professionals at large multinationals and advisory firms, helping them with tax research, compliance, risk and governance management across all the jurisdictions they operate in. Founded in 2020, Loctax was acquired by Tax Systems in 2025 and is now part of the UK's leading corporate tax software group, trusted by thousands of tax and finance professionals.

Together with Tax Systems, we are building the very first Tax Operating System: one AI-powered platform where global tax professionals can research, comply, and make decisions without switching between a dozen disconnected tools. This is an early and pivotal moment in that journey.

About the Role

Tax Engineer is a new kind of role. Tax teams don't just want software handed to them; they want someone who understands how their function actually works and can turn an AI-powered platform into real, measurable outcomes.

As a Tax Engineer, you'll own customer implementation projects from sales handover through to delivery, adoption and renewal, acting as the primary point of contact throughout. You'll combine your tax expertise with strong relationship skills to design tailored solutions, and work closely with Sales, Product and Engineering to make sure customers see lasting value. Think of it as part tax technology consultant, part product specialist, part solutions architect, and part trusted partner. There's no fixed playbook here; you'll help write it as we scale the Tax Engineering function.

Who You Are

  • Tax professional with strong expertise in tax processes, governance and operational strategy, with at least five years of in-house and / or advisory experience.
  • Passionate about how technology can transform and improve the tax function.
  • Tech-curious and product-savvy. You don't need to be a coder, but you lean into technical conversations around generative AI, implementation and workflow transformation.
  • Enjoy working directly with customers and building strong, trusted relationships.
  • Confident leading customer conversations and guiding stakeholders through implementation and change.
  • Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements effectively.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and effective across cross-functional and distributed teams.
  • Comfortable working in a remote-first environment and attending London collaboration days when required.
  • Based in London or Belgium

What You Will Be Doing

As a Tax Engineer, your work spans the full customer lifecycle, from the first pre-sales conversation through to long-term value and renewal:

Sales Engagement and Solution Scoping

  • Partner with Sales during the pre-sales process to understand customer requirements, define implementation scope and align customer goals and expectations.
  • Support smooth transitions from Sales through onboarding and implementation.

Own Customer Implementations

  • Lead customer onboarding and implementation projects end-to-end, acting as the primary point of contact throughout delivery.
  • Develop tailored implementation plans, manage timelines, coordinate stakeholders and ensure successful project outcomes.

Leverage Your Tax Expertise

  • Use your tax knowledge to understand customer challenges and advise on best practices for tax processes, governance, compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Help customers configure and optimise Loctax to meet their strategic objectives.

Manage Ongoing Customer Relationships

  • Build long-term trusted relationships with customers and act as a strategic partner throughout their journey with Loctax.
  • Drive customer engagement and platform adoption to ensure customers realise ongoing value from the platform.
  • Conduct regular customer check-ins, training sessions and strategic reviews.
  • Proactively identify and manage customer risks, challenges and opportunities.

Renewal and Retention Activities

  • Own customer renewal processes by demonstrating value delivered and aligning on future goals and priorities.
  • Support customer retention and identify opportunities for account growth and expansion.

Collaborate Cross-Functionally

  • Work closely with Product, Engineering and Sales teams to solve customer challenges and improve the customer experience.
  • Provide customer feedback and insights to help shape future platform capabilities and enhancements.

As a Tax Engineer at Loctax, you'll be at the front of how the world's tax teams adopt AI, part of building the first Tax Operating System and helping define a role that didn't exist a few years ago.
