ABOUT THE ROLE
The Professional Services Resourcing Manager is responsible for overseeing the allocation and optimisation of resources within the Professional Services team. This role ensures that client projects are staffed appropriately, balancing business needs with employee development, and supporting the delivery of high-quality services to clients. The Professional Services Resourcing Manager will collaborate closely with the Professional Services Director, the Project Management Director and project managers, professional services consultants, third party professional services providers and contractors and Logicalis UK and Ireland (LUKI) leadership to forecast demand, manage capacity, and drive operational efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with project and account managers to understand resource requirements for ongoing and upcoming client engagements.
- Allocate professional services consultants, solution architects and third-party contract specialists to projects and business development pursuits based on skill set, availability, and business priorities.
- Monitor and manage resource utilisation to ensure optimal productivity and minimise non-productive time.
- Monitor and manage weekly timesheet completeness and actively chase where necessary.
- Forecast resource demand by reviewing project pipelines and collaborating with sales and delivery teams.
- Maintain up-to-date records of team members’ skills, certifications, and preferences to enable effective resource matching.
- Identify resource gaps and work with the Professional Services Director to address shortfalls through hiring or contractor engagement.
- Produce regular reports on utilisation, capacity, upcoming demand, backlog, and resourcing challenges for leadership.
- Facilitate regular resourcing meetings to review project allocations and resolve conflicts or bottlenecks.
- Support professional development, through training plans and time for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) by considering individual growth objectives when assigning professional services resources to projects.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and client expectations in all resourcing decisions.
- Develop and refine resource management processes, tools, and reporting systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Prince2, PMP, Resource Management Institute) are an advantage.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Previous experience in a resourcing, workforce planning, or project management role within professional services or consulting environments.
- Strong understanding of resource management principles and tools (we currently use Kantata SX).
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong people skills and the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and resource management software.
- Initiative-taking problem-solver, comfortable working in a demanding environment.
- Experience with forecasting, capacity planning, and reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Prince2, PMP, Resource Management Institute) are an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
