Job summary

We are seeking an exceptional operational leader to join Team LNWH as Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director for Central Middlesex Hospital and the North West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead the Trust's elective care, performance and improvement agenda, supporting delivery of strategic priorities and providing assurance to the Board, regulators and system partners. You will oversee operational performance, finance and digital services, ensuring data-driven decision-making that improves patient outcomes, access and experience.

As Managing Director, you will provide visible leadership for Central Middlesex Hospital and the North West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre, working with clinical and professional leaders to enhance patient care, staff experience and service development.

The role includes responsibility for elective recovery, cancer performance improvement and Trust-wide digital operations, including digital transformation and optimisation of the electronic patient record. You will also contribute to the North West London Acute Provider Group, supporting collaboration and service improvement across organisational boundaries.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the post-holder will lead the Trust's performance agenda, ensuring delivery of NHS Constitutional Standards and providing assurance to the Board and regulators on performance improvement plans and outcomes.

The post-holder will oversee performance reporting, data quality, governance, and the delivery of accurate, timely and consistent information for internal and external stakeholders. Working across operational, finance, performance and digital teams, they will ensure a single, reliable source of information to support decision-making and strategic improvement programmes.

As a senior leader, the post-holder will work closely with Executive Directors to deliver operational and strategic priorities, contribute to Trust governance arrangements, and promote the Trust's vision, values and commitment to high-quality patient care and staff experience.

The role will lead the Trust's elective recovery programme and annual activity planning process, working collaboratively with clinical and operational teams and partners across North West London.

The post-holder will also act as Managing Director for Central Middlesex Hospital, providing site leadership, overseeing the Elective Orthopaedic Centre, and leading regulatory activity, including CQC inspections and improvement plans where required.

Education and Qualifications

Essential
  • Master's Degree or equivalent knowledge and experience preferably with an information or analytical focus
  • Significant post qualification experience working at a senior level, with a strong professional reputation built on a track record of career development through delivery
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
  • Degree Level education or equivalent, preferably in the field of Performance and Information Management
  • Professional management training / qualification

Knowledge and experience

Essential
  • Significant experience of working at a senior level within a large complex NHS organisation
  • Experience of working with Executive Directors, very senior managers and leaders
  • Significant understanding and knowledge of the statutory standards and a track record of delivery
  • Experience of leading and implementing Performance and Information strategies and frameworks within a large organisation
  • Proven ability to build enduring and effective stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrate evidence of sound financial management / building strong and productive teams
  • Experience of strategic thinking at a senior level
