Role Summary

Reporting into the Cloud and Productivity Engineering Organisation, this role will own and deliver the London Stock Exchange Group's public cloud and developer architecture. Innovation is central to this program, and the focus areas will evolve to meet business needs, security requirements, and digital strategies.

The Head of Cloud Architecture will provide leadership and focus on strategy, design, and evolution of LSEG's strategic public and private cloud platform.

This role will own, lead, and develop a global dispersed team responsible for strategy and design across the cloud platform and development toolchain. A successful candidate will have experience in defining and curating cloud and developer strategies, standards, processes, methodologies, and architectures to enable business innovation, simplify technology landscapes, and enhance operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the adoption and migration of applications to the public cloud, aiming to transition the majority of the LSEG/Refinitiv estate to cloud.
  • Own the technical and architectural integrity and strategic roadmap of Cloud Networking, ensuring successful delivery of business and technical outcomes.
  • Retire or decommission data centers worldwide in favor of cloud-hosted environments.
  • Collaborate with the Group CISO and IT security teams to enhance security controls.
  • Leverage emerging technologies in cloud and development to simplify the technology landscape, improve customer experience, and reduce costs.
  • Work with chapters to define cloud and developer service strategies, including standards, blueprints, processes, and patterns.
  • Act as a cloud evangelist, helping leaders understand the benefits and challenges of cloud adoption and assisting teams in migration.
  • Build relationships across the engineering community to establish consistent architecture across digital platforms aligned with future technology needs.
  • Engage with cloud platform stakeholders and communicate with senior leadership, including C-level executives.
  • Partially perform the role of Agile 'Product Owner' for the cloud platform.
  • Gather and utilize feedback and learning early and often.
Candidate Profile / Key Skills
  • Deep technical expertise in infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience with SDLC, CI/CD, application security, QA, platforms like Istio, Serverless, Kubernetes, and processes like Agile, Lean, Product Development.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps, high-performance computing, event-driven architectures, big data, machine learning, and multiple programming languages (C, C++, C#, Java, Rust, Go, Python).
  • Experience in enterprise and solution architecture, cloud and on-premise networking.
  • Proven experience in senior technology roles within large enterprise public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Ability to drive technological and cultural change, promoting automation and platform as a foundation for innovation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and team-building skills, with experience managing global teams.
  • Understanding of PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, and public cloud best practices.
  • Awareness of latest public cloud developments and industry benchmarks.
  • Experience working in agile and DevOps cultures, with knowledge of operating systems, networks, RDBMS, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD pipelines.
