Lorien's leading banking client is looking for an Application Support Engineer to join them, this role is a position within the Rates and Credit eTrading Application Production team in London which is part of the APS Flow and Digital group (Application Production & Support).

This a global team providing services to the Rates and Credit businesses within the Organisation and Global Markets.

All team members are expected to quickly develop, or already have, a good understanding of eTrading systems (not necessarily Rates and Credit asset classes).

The team is responsible for supporting globally the ION platform, in-house pricing applications, algorithmic trading components, STP, for Rates and Credit businesses.

The ideal candidate will have strong skills and experience of working with Windows, Linux, Scripting, Jenkins, and Networking experience.

This role is based in London.

This role will be Via Umbrella.

Working in a Hybrid Model of 2-3 day a week on site.

Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of production: monitoring, capacity management, problem resolution activities, change management.
  • Responsible for efficient resolution of issues to minimize impact to clients and internal users including liaising with end users, dev, team members, management, vendors, other internal IT teams
  • Assist in the development, design and implementation of technical support systems.
  • Perform activities related to implementation and rollout for upgrades of existing services.
  • Work closely with development teams, business analysts, architects, all infrastructure teams to design and setup new systems, improve existing platforms (resilience, high availability, performance, low latency)
  • Coordinate and organise changes with external vendors, markets, ECNs.
  • Plan, schedule, implement and document the release/change activities.
  • Improve team documentation, keep it up-to-date and share knowledge with global team.

Essential skills:

  • Excellent Linux and Windows OS proficiency
  • Strong all-around IT background and proven experience in electronic trading markets on similar environments
  • Ability to analyse Memory, CPU, NIC/Network, Multicast usage/data
  • One or more of: PowerShell, Shell, Python, SQL
  • Jenkins/Ansible/Artifactory pipeline expertise
  • Good server, network and firewall infrastructure understanding
  • Application support experience with Java, C++, .NET knowledge
  • Project management skills to deliver medium scale projects

Additional skills (nice to have):

  • Ability to tune operating systems platforms for optimum performance
  • Ideally good knowledge and experience on ION technology
  • Multicast messaging competency
  • Monitoring (Geneos/Zabbix)
  • Splunk
