Lorien's leading banking client is looking for an Application Support Engineer to join them, the ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of their applications, resolving issues, and providing support to end-users.

This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and availability of their critical business applications in a timely manner to ensure FO and MO users have required data to performing their day-to-day trading activities.

This role is based in London.

This role will be Via Umbrella.

Working in a Hybrid Model of 2-3 day a week on site.

Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Architecture & Design
  • Design, document and maintain the end-to-end architecture for Windows-based and SQL-Server environments that support the Official PNL platform.
  • Define standards for server sizing, storage, high-availability, disaster-recovery and security (firewall).
  1. European Support Coverage - Official PNL
  • Provide Tier-2/3 support for the Official PNL application across all EMEA locations during business hours and on-call rotation.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve incidents/service requests; own their end-to-end closure and post-mortem reporting.
  1. Application Migration
  • Migration of application from one platform to another.
  • Acquiring new servers, licenses and software.
  • Liaise with the application team for smoother transition and handle dry runs.
  • Install and configure necessary software for smoother operations.
  • Validate connectivity, performance and security controls.
  • Submit, review and approve firewall rule changes required for new servers or services.
  1. Obsolescence Management
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all hardware/software assets supporting the PNL environment.
  • Develop and execute a de-commissioning roadmap for end-of-life servers, OS versions and SQL releases; coordinate migrations to supported platforms.
  1. Cross-Team Liaison
  • Act as the primary technical interface between Infrastructure, Application Development, Security and Business-line owners.
  1. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
  • Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, run-books, standard operating procedures and configuration baselines in the corporate knowledge repository.

Essential skills

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with application support in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of incident and problem management processes.
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Understanding of Scripting and automation tools (e.g. PowerShell, Python etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS and Jira.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Dynatrace/Geneos)
  • Hands on knowledge on scheduling Tools like Autosys.
