Azure Data Architect - Local Authority

• Location: Hybrid - Bristol (2 days per week in the office)
• Duration: 6 months
• Contract:£870 per day
• IR35 Scope: Inside of IR35

We're looking for an experienced Data Architect to support a major digital and data transformation programme within the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.

This is a strategic architecture role, ideal for someone who enjoys shaping enterprise data platforms, defining target-state architectures, and influencing long-term data strategy.

Key responsibilities:
Assess existing Azure Databricks lakehouse environments
Define the target data architecture and future roadmap
Recommend platform consolidation, separation, or federated operating models
Establish enterprise data architecture standards and governance
Work closely with technical and business stakeholders to align data strategy with organisational objectives

We're looking for experience in:
* Enterprise Data Architecture
* Azure Data Platform & Azure Databricks
* Modern Data Lakehouse architectures
* Data modelling (conceptual, logical & physical)
* Data integration and pipeline design
* Data governance, metadata management & data lineage
* Enterprise-scale platform design and transformation
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
