FinOps Specialist

Overview:

We are seeking a FinOps Specialist to manage and optimise cloud financial operations across Azure and AWS. This role focuses on cost reduction, cloud waste management, and efficient resource utilisation, while leading strategic initiatives and ensuring a smooth handover to the internal FinOps team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive cloud cost optimisation and waste reduction initiatives across the organisation.
• Analyse cloud utilisation and identify cost-saving opportunities using tools like Azure Cost Advisor and AWS Cost Explorer .
• Collaborate with finance, engineering, and leadership teams to align cloud spend with business goals.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions to upskill stakeholders on FinOps best practices.
• Develop and document FinOps processes, governance frameworks, and compliance policies .
• Maintain cost dashboards and reports (e.g., Power BI) for visibility and performance tracking.
• Support the handover process to the internal FinOps team, including knowledge transfer and training.
• Negotiate cloud service contracts and manage Reserved Instance purchasing .

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience in cloud financial management and cost optimisation.
• Strong knowledge of Azure and AWS cost management features .
• Experience with FinOps tools (CloudHealth, Lucidity, ProsperOps desirable).
• Ability to lead initiatives, engage stakeholders, and operate at global scale .
• Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a results-driven mindset.

Essential:

• Experience recommending and implementing FinOps tools.
• Reserved Instance purchasing expertise.
• Setting up FinOps teams and frameworks.
• Acting as primary point of contact for FinOps queries.
