The Role

As DevOps Lead, you will take ownership of shared DevOps practices, ensuring infrastructure, automation, and operational standards are consistently applied. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on implementation, stability, and preparing the foundation for a centralised DevOps function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead & Coordinate: Drive day-to-day DevOps execution across squads, ensuring consistent CI/CD, monitoring, and security standards.
  • Implement & Optimise: Deploy automation and infrastructure templates defined by architecture and platform teams.
  • Maintain Stability: Ensure operational health through proactive monitoring, alerting, and maintenance.
  • Security & Compliance: Support vulnerability remediation, patching cadence, and gold-image alignment with Cyber and GCS teams.
  • Cost Efficiency: Drive tagging discipline, environment optimisation, and governance adherence.
  • Standardise Practices: Develop and maintain the DevOps playbook, templates, and documentation standards.
  • Influence & Engage: Collaborate with central BA DevOps, challenge requirements where needed, and navigate priorities tactfully.
  • Future-Proof: Lay the groundwork for a centralised DevOps function.
What We're Looking For
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (IAM, networking, ECS/EKS, Terraform, CloudFormation).
    • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, automation, and container orchestration.
    • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar).
    • Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, etc.).
    • Proven track record in environment hardening, patching, and compliance frameworks.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:

    • Ability to coordinate engineers across multiple squads and enforce consistent standards.
    • Clear, diplomatic communication when influencing central or external teams.
    • Balance leadership with hands-on delivery and operate with accountability and discipline.
  • Experience:

    • 13-15 years in DevOps or platform engineering within multi-squad or large-scale AWS environments.
    • Prior exposure to complex delivery organisations.
  • Hybrid working model with a vibrant London office.
