IT Infrastructure Laboratory Technician | DV Clearable
We're looking for a hands-on IT Infrastructure Laboratory Technician to manage, maintain and support physical and virtual testing environments. You'll own the hardware life cycle, network provisioning and day-to-day troubleshooting of lab infrastructure used by engineering and development teams.
This is a great role if you genuinely enjoy working with physical hardware, have solid networking fundamentals, and take pride in keeping things properly organised.
What you'll be doing:
- Hardware & Asset Management: installing, racking, stacking and cabling Servers, Switches and storage arrays; tracking inventory, spares and component replacements
- Environment Provisioning: configuring and deploying operating systems, hypervisors and baseline software images; setting up isolated test networks, VLANs and testbeds to engineering requests
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: hardware diagnostics and component replacement (RAM, CPUs, drives, PSUs); keeping BIOS and switch firmware up to date
- Lab Operations: monitoring environmental controls (temperature, power distribution, cable management); maintaining data-wiping and decommissioning protocols for retired equipment
- Helpdesk Support: acting as primary point of contact for lab users on access, connectivity and hardware allocation tickets
What you'll need:
- Deep understanding of server architecture, storage systems and components
- Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnets, VLAN configuration, structured cabling
- Experience installing and configuring Windows Server, Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and virtualisation platforms (VMware, KVM or Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with basic Scripting (Bash, PowerShell or Python) for automation is a plus
- Active DV clearance or DV clearable
- Able to work 5 days a week on-site
