Location: Leeds or London (Hybrid) - 50% onsite

We're partnering with a highly respected UK organisation undergoing a significant technology transformation and are looking for a Performance Test Engineer to help ensure the scalability, resilience, and reliability of critical digital platforms.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative technology function where you'll shape performance testing strategy, influence engineering best practices, and work across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments.

As a Performance Test Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, executing, and analysing performance testing activities, helping teams identify bottlenecks and optimise system performance before solutions reach production.

Working closely with developers, architects, and engineering teams, you'll drive a proactive approach to performance engineering and contribute to the ongoing evolution of testing practices and tooling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute performance, load, stress, and volume testing activities.
  • Develop and implement performance testing strategies and non-functional requirements.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor application and infrastructure performance using observability and diagnostic tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system scalability and resilience.
  • Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery processes.
  • Support cloud-based and containerised applications across modern technology environments.

About You

You'll bring a strong background in performance testing and performance engineering, alongside excellent analytical and stakeholder management skills.

Essential Experience

  • Performance testing using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar.
  • Experience designing and analysing performance, load, stress, and volume tests.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Splunk, New Relic, or Dynatrace.
  • Scripting and automation skills using Python, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and modern containerised environments.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Kafka, IBM MQ, or similar Middleware technologies.
  • CI/CD tools including GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Git.
  • Databricks, ELK stack, or reporting platforms such as Tableau.
  • Experience working within regulated or highly secure environments
