Location: Glasgow (Hybrid)
Rate: £180-£215 per day (Inside IR35)
Duration: 12 months
Start: Immediately
Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 15:30

We're working with a leading utilities organisation supporting critical infrastructure across Scotland, currently looking to bring in a Planning Technician to join their Customer Response and Streetworks team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in coordinating essential field operations, ensuring work is delivered efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on customer experience.

The Role

As a Planning Technician, you'll be responsible for planning, scheduling, and managing a high volume of reactive and customer-driven work, including repairs and streetworks activity.

You'll act as the central point of contact between field teams, customers, and key stakeholders-ensuring work is prioritised effectively, delivered in line with SLAs, and communicated clearly throughout.

This is a fast-paced, operational environment where no two days are the same, and the ability to balance competing priorities is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule reactive and planned works using core systems
  • Manage and prioritise workloads in line with SLA targets and urgency
  • Act as the main point of contact for field teams, supporting multiple stakeholders at once
  • Coordinate work raised via the customer contact centre and ensure smooth delivery
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers and external stakeholders (eg local authorities)
  • Ensure compliance with streetworks regulations (NRSWA) where required
  • Develop an understanding of different task types and manage planning accordingly

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in a planning, scheduling, or coordination role, or a customer service environment
  • Confident communicator with the ability to manage high call volumes and stakeholder interaction
  • Proven ability to prioritise work in a fast-paced, reactive setting
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with multiple systems and adapting to new tools

Desirable:

  • Experience with Salesforce or other scheduling/workflow systems
  • Knowledge of MS Dynamics (CRM)
  • Familiarity with streetworks/utilities environments
  • Understanding of Aurora (Streetworks Register) or willingness to learn
