Principal Data Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise-scale data integration and data flow solutions across operational and analytics systems
  • Define and maintain data engineering standards, frameworks, and best practices
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight across data platforms and services
  • Develop and manage technical roadmaps aligned to product and organisational goals
  • Collaborate closely with product, architecture, and engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions
  • Contribute to testing strategies, delivery planning, and agile development processes
  • Support operational excellence through incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
  • Mentor engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence and collaboration

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Tech: Azure Fabric, Python, SQL, Purview, Snowflake (desirable)
  • Significant experience in data engineering, integration, or platform design within complex environments
  • Strong expertise across multiple technical disciplines (e.g. data, architecture, cloud, infrastructure, integration)
  • Proven ability to lead technical design and delivery at enterprise scale
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, system integration, and modern data architectures
  • Experience working within Agile or product-led environments
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring or leading engineers and influencing technical direction
