Process Analyst (Payroll)

Location: London (Hybrid)

6 Month Contract

Our leading UK Investment Banking client are currently looking for a Process Analyst to join their team on an initial 6 month contract.

Role Overview

The Business Process Analyst / Business Analyst will support the Payroll function within an investment banking environment, focusing on process review, controls, data integrity and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and document current-state payroll processes, identifying inefficiencies, risks and control gaps
  • Develop tools to Perform detailed payroll reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies across multiple data sources
  • Use Excel extensively to build processes to analyse large datasets, build reconciliations, and produce clear management reporting
  • Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, Technology and Risk teams to gather requirements and understand business needs
  • Act as an inquisitive challenger, asking the right questions to fully understand issues and root causes
  • Design and recommend future-state process improvements, including automation and control enhancements
  • Support the implementation of new processes, ensuring changes are clearly documented and adopted
  • Produce clear documentation including process maps, impact assessments and business requirements
  • Assist with audit queries and regulatory requests related to payroll processes and controls

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Business Process Analyst, ideally within Payroll, Finance or Operations
  • Strong Excel skills (e.g. pivots, lookups, reconciliations, data validation; VBA a plus)
  • Solid experience performing financial or payroll reconciliations in a controlled environment
  • Highly inquisitive and analytical mindset, with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to review current-state processes and make practical, value-adding recommendations
  • Confident communicator with experience engaging and influencing stakeholders at varying levels of seniority
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced investment banking or financial services environment
  • Strong documentation and presentation skills, able to translate complexity into clear outputs
