Project Manager - Application Development Vendor Migration

Industry: Luxury Retail / Fashion Contract: 6-month contract (Inside IR35)Rate: £625 per day Location: London (2-3 days onsite)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the migration of an application development and managed service from one vendor to another within a large, complex enterprise environment in the luxury retail and fashion industry.

This is a business-critical transformation programme, focused on ensuring continuity of application development while transitioning services to a new strategic partner. The role requires strong delivery focus, stakeholder management, and vendor coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end migration of application development services from the incumbent vendor to a new provider
  • Ensure uninterrupted service delivery throughout the transition, with continuity of development work as a top priority
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, dependencies, risks, and communications
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across IT, operations, security, legal, and business stakeholders
  • Manage vendor relationships, setting expectations and enabling effective inter-vendor collaboration
  • Track progress and report status, risks, and issues to senior stakeholders, escalating where required
Key Deliverables
  • Document current-state processes and define future-state objectives with service users and stakeholders
  • Lead knowledge transfer and transition planning across applications, projects, and services
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate delivery and operational risks
  • Prepare the incoming vendor for steady-state service ownership
  • Ensure compliance with governance, security, regulatory, and control requirements
  • Conduct post-migration reviews and support handover into BAU operations
Required Experience
  • Proven experience managing large-scale IT or vendor migration projects, ideally within application development or software delivery
  • Strong understanding of application development lifecycles, DevOps, and service management
  • Experience working in complex enterprise environments
  • Hands-on experience managing multiple stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams
  • Strong vendor management, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Experience with SAP technologies (ECC, S/4HANA, BTP) and system integration tools
  • Experience working with large system integrators and offshore delivery teams
Desirable
  • Project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile PM)
  • Experience with outsourcing contracts and transition governance
  • Background in business-critical or customer-facing service delivery
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capability
  • Calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities
