Senior Application Packaging & Workplace Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Application Packaging & Workplace Engineer to join one of our Insurance clients on a 6-months contract.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test and maintain enterprise-ready application packages across managed desktop and endpoint environments.
  • Perform application repackaging, customisation and silent installations using industry-standard packaging tools.
  • Deploy applications using Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • Own the end-to-end application lifecycle, including onboarding, updates, patching, version control and retirement.
  • Conduct application compatibility assessments for Windows OS upgrades.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
  • Ensure licensing compliance and support software asset management processes.
  • Monitor application health, performance and stability across the endpoint estate.
  • Align application management strategies with enterprise security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation, remediation and reporting.
  • Improve application packaging and deployment workflows through standardisation and CI/CD practices where appropriate.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance the end-user experience and reduce support incidents.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in application packaging, deployment and lifecycle management within large-scale enterprise environments, working with both onshore and offshore engineering teams.
  • Proven hands-on experience with enterprise application packaging technologies including MSI repackaging tools (AdminStudio, InstallShield, Advanced Installer), MSIX packaging and conversion, App-V, MECM/SCCM and Microsoft Intune.
  • Strong expertise supporting Windows 11 managed desktop and endpoint estates.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills supporting automation, remediation and operational efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID within an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with broader workplace technologies and platforms including Windows Server 2016/2019, Company Portal, ControlUp, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Graph.
  • Familiarity with ITIL and ITSM frameworks, including formal change and incident management processes.
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), VDI and application virtualisation technologies.
  • Experience supporting device provisioning and modern management solutions such as Windows Autopilot.
  • Experience working with JSON and Azure DevOps (ADO) to support automated build, packaging, deployment and release management processes.
