Senior Data Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a well-known aviation company in a growing data and digital function. You will play a key role in building and operating the data pipelines that power secure, scalable, and high‐performing data products.

This is a hands‐on role where you’ll contribute across the full data lifecycle from development and deployment through to monitoring, optimisation, and support working within agile delivery teams and alongside experienced principal engineers.

Main Responsibilities:

• Design, build, test, and deploy robust data pipelines to support secure and scalable data delivery.
• Operate and maintain production data products, ensuring availability, resilience, and performance.
• Monitor systems, respond to incidents, and contribute to root‐cause analysis and ongoing improvements.
• Write high‐quality code and automation to manage and optimise data flows.
• Contribute to engineering best practices, coding standards, and automated testing.
• Collaborate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Participate in an on‐call rota to support critical data services.

Requirements:

• Strong experience in a cloud‐based data engineering environment.
• Hands‐on experience with modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, AWS‐based services, dbt, or similar PaaS/SaaS tools).
• Solid knowledge of modern data processing, testing, and monitoring practices.
• Experience supporting live, production data systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and agile delivery methodologies.
• Good understanding of information security principles and access control.
