Senior DevOps Engineer
Senior Platform Engineer - Manchester (Hybrid) - £75,000 + Bonus The Company: Lorien Global are working with a technology business based in Manchester that's scaling its platform engineering capability as part of an ambitious cloud and containerisation journey. With a hybrid infrastructure spanning AWS and on-prem VMware, they're building the foundations for high-performance delivery across microservices and this is your chance to be right in the thick of it.The Role: As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll be instrumental in building, automating, and maintaining resilient infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments. You'll be working on complex systems using .NET, RabbitMQ, WebAPI, WCF, MySQL, and MongoDB, with infrastructure deployed via IaC and Kubernetes.This is a hands-on role where you'll collaborate across Engineering, Architecture, Security and DevOps teams, designing re-usable platform stacks, improving deployment processes, and championing DevOps culture and practices. As the business transitions more workloads to Kubernetes, there's real scope here to innovate and influence best practice across GitOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native delivery.Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable, production-ready application stacks using IaC
- Work across Kubernetes, Docker, and VM environments to support reusable deployment solutions
- Collaborate with Engineering and DevOps to ensure smooth pipeline integration and delivery workflows
- Maintain and upgrade internal tooling, driving automation and reducing complexity
- Support security hardening, cloud governance, and operational readiness across all stacks
- Create and maintain Standard Operational Procedures for internal and third-party delivery
- Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting across cloud, infra, and application layers
Skill Requirements:
- Strong background in platform or infrastructure engineering across Linux and Windows
- Commercial experience with IaC tools (Terraform/Ansible)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker in production
- Strong AWS engineering knowledge (EC2, S3, IAM, VPCs, networking)
- Familiarity with VMware stack (vSphere, NSX, VCF) is a bonus
- Excellent scripting and automation skills
- Clear understanding of cloud security and compliance best practices
- Confident communicator and team collaborator, able to work in fast-paced environments
