Senior DevOps Engineer (SC-Cleared) 6 Month Contract Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office (base office can be London or Leeds)Please note: An active SC Clearance is required for this role Our high-profile Banking client is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join the team responsible for the Bank's Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) platform-one of the UK's most critical national infrastructure services.As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll join a collaborative multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of the RTGS platform. You'll work across the entire engineering lifecycle-from maintaining on-prem services to driving automation, mentoring colleagues, and shaping technical roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting, maintaining, and developing changes across the Bank's RTGS solution.
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues on best practice DevOps approaches.
  • Working closely with solution designers and helping shape domain-wide architectural and technology roadmaps.
  • Managing deployments, environments, and recovery procedures for mission-critical systems.
  • Participating in agile ceremonies and promoting continuous improvement and modern engineering practices.
  • Providing in- and out-of-hours support to a 24/7 production environment.
  • Owning major incident responses and driving post-incident reliability improvements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong production support experience, including on-call and OOH releases.
  • Significant hands-on experience with on-prem Kubernetes / OpenShift.
  • Linux systems administration in high-availability environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, with CI/CD integration (Jenkins).
  • Deep understanding of observability tooling: ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Proven incident-management leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile and modern DevOps practices.

Essential Skills:

  • Leadership and mentoring capability.
  • Security-first mindset.
  • Strong adherence to governance, SLAs and environment management best practice.
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS or GCP.

Desirable:

  • Exposure to financial services systems or payments platforms.
  • Relevant certifications (Oracle, RedHat, Microsoft, Kafka, etc.).
