Senior Project Manager – Application Development Vendor Migration

London – Hybrid working

6 Month Contract

£600 - £650/day inside IR35

We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to support a large, fast‐moving transition programme involving Application Management Services (AMS) and Application Development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end project for migrating the AMS and application development service from the incumbent vendor to a new provider.
  • Ensure uninterrupted service to the business during the migration; manage service continuity as a top priority.
  • Develop and execute detailed project plans, timelines, risk assessments, and communication strategies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, security, legal, and business units, to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including setting expectations, enabling inter vendor collaboration and ensuring performance.
  • Monitor and report project progress to senior leadership, identifying and escalating risks or blockers as needed.
  • Work with service owners and stakeholders to document current state processes and define future state goals.
  • Lead transition planning and knowledge transfer of solutions, projects and services between vendors.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate risks to minimize impact on business functions.
  • Prepare incoming vendor for service take-on steady-state processing.
  • Ensure adherence to governance, compliance, security, and regulatory requirements throughout the project.
  • Drive post-migration reviews to evaluate performance, extract lessons learned and ensure a smooth handover to operational teams.

The successful candidate will have the following skills/knowledge:

  • Proven experience managing large-scale IT or vendor migration projects, preferably in application development. software delivery or service management.
  • Experience with SAP technologies (e.g. ECC, S4 or BTP) and system integration tools.
  • Strong understanding of application development lifecycles, DevOps, and service management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders across business and technical domains.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
  • Experience in risk management, issue resolution, and managing high-pressure environments.
  • Experience working in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience working with one of the large IT system integrators and offshore delivery teams.
  • Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile PM).
  • Familiarity with contract negotiation and outsourcing agreements.
  • Previous experience in business-critical service delivery roles.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities.
  • Calm under pressure; able to prioritize and act decisively.
  • Collaborative and able to work cross-functionally.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality and service.
