Senior Python Developer - Data Platform and AI

Location: London or Glasgow (Hybrid)

We are working with a leading global financial services organisation to hire a Senior Python Developer to play a key role witin their Data and Analytics space.

This is a hands-on, senior position where you will combine deep Python expertise with a strong interest in data, working across the full lifecycle from design through to production delivery. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering, platform development, and governance, with a clear focus on creating high-quality datasets that power AI use cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and scale Python-based solutions within a Linux environment to support data platform capabilities
  • Lead the rollout of a data governance suite across the prime services business
  • Design and build high-quality datasets that feed AI and advanced analytics use cases
  • Contribute to architecture, engineering standards, and best practices across the platform
  • Engage directly with business and technology stakeholders in a front-facing capacity, translating requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Operate in an autonomous, senior capacity, driving delivery and influencing technical direction
  • Support production systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance
Required Experience
  • 10+ years' experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on Python development
  • Proven experience working in data-centric environments with a clear passion for data platforms and data quality
  • Strong experience working in Linux-based environments
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience in client-facing or business-facing roles
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in senior, autonomous roles
  • Experience building or contributing to data platforms, governance, or large-scale data systems
Desirable Skills
  • Exposure to Prompt Engineering and AI-related workflows
  • Experience with ClickHouse or similar high-performance analytical databases
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets
  • Background in financial services, ideally within prime services or trading environments
