Senior Rust Developer - Perm - Aviation Technology
Salary: £80,000-£110,000 + equity
Location: Full Remote UK (Must be a resident, will not accept remote workers outside the UK)
We’re supporting a specialist aviation technology company building high‐performance, mission‐critical backend systems used in live airline and airport operations. The platform underpins real‐time scheduling, disruption management, and optimisation, operating in complex, data‐intensive, and time‐sensitive environments.
They’re looking for a Senior Rust Engineer to work on core backend services where low latency, concurrency, reliability, and correctness are first‐class concerns. This is not a web or API‐first role - the focus is on systems‐level backend engineering that directly supports real operational decision‐making.
What you’ll work on
- Designing and implementing high‐performance backend services in Rust
- Building concurrent, low‐latency systems handling real‐time operational data
- Developing services that support optimisation, scheduling, and disruption scenarios
- Improving performance, observability, fault tolerance, and system resilience
- Working closely with domain experts to translate real‐world aviation constraints into robust software
What they’re looking for
- Strong experience building backend or systems software with Rust
- Solid understanding of concurrency, memory management, performance tuning, and system design
- Experience working on complex or operationally critical systems
- Comfortable owning architectural decisions and working through ambiguous problems
Highly desirable experience:
- Aviation domain experience (airlines, airports, flight operations, or aviation platforms)
- Background in transport, optimisation, or other safety‐critical environments
- Prior experience with C/C++, real‐time, or distributed systems
