The Role

I'm working with an exciting startup that is entering a major phase of growth and development.

A key focus for this hire is experience with integrating third-party platforms into core systems. As the platform evolves, a significant part of the role will involve designing and building scalable integrations with external platforms, APIs and enterprise systems — making this a critical area of the position.

As part of this growth, the business is bringing development in-house and is now hiring their first permanent engineer. You’ll work directly with the CTO, alongside an existing external development team, helping shape both the product and the future of the engineering function.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services using Java
• Develop front-end applications using React.js
• Design and implement integrations with third-party platforms and APIs (core focus of the role)
• Work within an AWS-based cloud environment
• Collaborate closely with the CTO and external engineers
• Help transition development in-house
• Improve system scalability, performance and reliability

What You’ll Be Working On

• Building core product features
• Developing and scaling integrations with external platforms
• Designing backend workflows to support integrations
• Supporting a cloud-native architecture on AWS
• Contributing to architectural and technical decisions

Must-Have Requirements (Non-Negotiables)

Use this as your primary screening filter:

1. Core Technical Skills

• ✅ Strong API development & consumption

• ✅ Experience with 3rd-party integrations (REST, webhooks, SaaS APIs)

• ✅ Backend (Java preferred) or solid full-stack capability

• ✅ Understanding of:

o authentication (OAuth, tokens)

o data mapping/transformation

o error handling/retry logic

2. Integration Experience (MOST IMPORTANT 🔥)

• ✅ ATS integrations (Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, iCIMS, etc.)

• ✅ OR heavy SaaS integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, etc.)

• ✅ OR external enterprise systems integrations

Highly Desirable (Key Focus Area)

• Hands-on experience integrating with third-party platforms or external systems
• Building or supporting integration workflows or pipelines
• Understanding of API design, data flow, and system interoperability
