SOFTWARE RELEASE MANAGER - 3 MONTHS - £400-500p (DOE) - INSIDE IR35

(hybrid working in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee or Aberdeen)

The Role

As the Software Release Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing software releases within the company's Digital Transformation Programme. This crucial position will involve managing the release schedule, collaborating with cross-functional teams, mitigating risks, and upholding the highest quality standards.

You will serve as the central point of communication, keeping all stakeholders informed and aligned throughout the release process. Your exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills will be essential in driving efficient, high-quality, and timely deployments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed release plans, schedules, and timelines, ensuring alignment with project goals and deliverables.
  • Coordinate the efforts of development, operations, testing, and other relevant teams to ensure a smooth and efficient release process.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that could impact the release, implementing contingency plans as needed.
  • Oversee the quality assurance process, ensuring each release meets the necessary standards before deployment.
  • Manage the change control process to maintain the stability and integrity of the product.
  • Oversee the deployment strategy and execution, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
  • Provide post-deployment support and continuously identify opportunities to improve the release process.

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in software development, release management, or a similar field.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience with release management tools and processes.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, as well as version control systems.
