Lead Software Engineer - Salesforce

Please note this role is Hybrid with office visits 1-2 times per week in Liverpool

Main Purpose of Role

The Lead Engineer is accountable for the technical execution and delivery of the digital platform strategy. You will provide hands-on technical leadership, ensuring resilient and scalable solutions, while mentoring and upskilling the engineering team. This role ensures that Salesforce adoption is technically sound and successful, while maintaining business-critical legacy systems.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Design, develop, and oversee scalable and secure solutions that support growth. Lead architectural decisions, balancing new Salesforce-based solutions with ongoing support of legacy systems.
  • Execution & Follow-through: Ensure technical actions, commitments, and decisions are documented, tracked, and completed to a high standard.
  • Team Development: Actively mentor engineers, embedding structured upskilling and cross-skilling. Support the team's transition to Salesforce skills while ensuring continuity of legacy system knowledge.
  • Collaboration with Product Owner: Translate product strategy and detailed plans into technical outcomes. Ensure technical feasibility, risk identification, and solution alignment with roadmap priorities.
  • Standards & Practices: Maintain engineering discipline, ensuring delivery practices, lifecycle processes, and compliance with PCI-DSS, Cyber essentails+ and other standards.
  • Quality & Resilience: Ensure systems are performant, reliable, and meet functional and non-functional requirements. Promote test-driven development and engineering best practice.
  • Supplier/Partner Engagement: Review and assure the quality of technical outputs from third parties, ensuring compliance with internal standards.

What we would like from you

  • Strong background in software engineering, ideally with Java, React/React Native, Salesforce, and API integration experience.
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams in financial services or similar regulated environments.
  • Expertise across the software development lifecycle, agile delivery, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience building and designing solutions for resilience, scalability, and security.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow technical teams, fostering a culture of learning and accountability.
