Job Title: MongoDB Specialist
Contract: 6 months initial (likely extension)
Clearance: Active SC clearance
Onsite Requirement: Hybrid - once or twice a week
Location: Leeds, Birmingham, Newcastle, London, Cardiff, Manchester, Blackpool or Sheffield
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on MongoDB Specialist to support a large-scale, data-driven environment within a UK public sector programme. This role involves working with high-volume datasets, designing efficient data structures, and contributing across both data and engineering layers within a modern cloud-based ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, structure, and optimise MongoDB collections for large-scale datasets
- Translate complex data and system requirements into scalable, practical solutions
- Develop, optimise, and maintain MongoDB queries for performance and efficiency
- Support integration of MongoDB within microservices and wider application architecture
- Carry out performance tuning and optimisation across data environments
- Collaborate closely with development and DevOps teams to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and ongoing platform improvements
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on expertise with MongoDB in production environments
- Proven experience working with large-scale datasets and data modelling
- Solid understanding of query optimisation and performance tuning
- Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Exposure to DevOps practices including CI/CD, pipelines, and deployments
- Familiarity with microservices architectures and platform-level engineering
- Ability to work across both data and engineering layers
- Strong collaboration skills with developers and technical stakeholders
