Overview
We're seeking an experienced Business Analyst with SAS programming expertise to join a data and analytics team supporting key business reporting activities. The role is responsible for understanding business requirements, translating them into technical specifications, and ensuring the reliability and continuous improvement of SAS-based data processes and reporting outputs.
You'll play a vital role in supporting BAU operations, resolving data issues, and contributing to change initiatives that enhance SAS systems and analytical workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders to gather and document business, reporting, and data requirements.
- Translate business needs into technical specifications for SAS-based solutions.
- Support and maintain existing SAS processes, ensuring data accuracy and performance reliability.
- Conduct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of SAS job failures and data discrepancies.
- Deliver improvements to reporting workflows and data processes.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to deliver impactful insights.
Technical Skills and Experience
- Proven experience working with SAS (Base, SAS Enterprise Guide, or SAS Studio).
- Ability to read SAS logs, debug code, and resolve process failures.
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
- Understanding of ETL pipelines, data warehousing, and data modelling.
- Exposure to other analytics tools such as Python or Power BI (desirable).
- SAS certifications (Base/Advanced Programmer) are advantageous but not essential.

- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to interrogate and interpret complex datasets.
- Skilled in documenting business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications.
- Ability to translate technical outputs into clear, actionable business insights.
- Experience working within data-driven projects or reporting environments.

- Strong stakeholder management across technical and non-technical teams.
- Organised, detail-focused, and capable of working in time-critical settings.
Security and Compliance
- SC Clearance required.
- Candidates without current clearance must be eligible for SC vetting.
