Role Overview:

An exciting long-term opportunity has arisen for a Software Developer, to join our Peterborough based customer. You will be joining a team driving the modernisation of software development tools, processes and infrastructure. Working within a Toolchain & Verification environment, you will develop software and automation solutions that improve the efficiency, quality and traceability of the software development life cycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a developer who enjoys problem-solving, process improvement and working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop software tools, applications, scripts and automation solutions to support software and control systems development.
  • Translate business, user and engineering requirements into practical software solutions.
  • Design, build, test, debug and document software using modern development methodologies.
  • Support the automation of development, validation and testing workflows.
  • Contribute to the modernisation of software development toolchains and associated infrastructure.
  • Assist with platform integration and the improvement of software engineering processes.
  • Work with version control systems, automated build processes and development environments.
  • Collaborate closely with software developers, engineers and testing teams to improve quality, efficiency and development effectiveness.
  • Support CI/CD initiatives and continuous improvement programmes where appropriate.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Experience:

  • Strong software development and coding experience.
  • Commercial experience with C# and/or Python.
  • Experience using Git version control.
  • Ability to gather, analyse and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience building, testing and debugging software applications.
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices including version control, code review & testing.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
  • Experience working with software development toolchains.
  • Exposure to automation platforms and workflow automation.
  • Experience within engineering, manufacturing, aerospace or telecommunications environments.
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio, VS Code, GitHub Copilot and automated testing frameworks.
  • Interest in software development environment modernisation and digital transformation initiatives.
