Lead Snowflake SME

Luxoft is seeking a highly experienced Lead Snowflake Expert to design and deliver a next‐generation cloud data warehouse and integration platform. This is a critical technical leadership role at the heart of a scalable, secure, and high‐performance data ecosystem that underpins a portfolio management platform used by global asset managers.

You will own the architecture and hands‐on delivery of a Snowflake‐based data platform, working closely with engineering, product, and client teams to build robust data pipelines, seamless integrations, and best‐in‐class data governance.

What You’ll Be Doing

Architecture & Design

  • Define and own the end‐to‐end Snowflake data architecture, including data modelling, storage, and compute strategies
  • Design scalable ELT/ETL frameworks for ingesting data from internal systems, third‐party providers, and client sources
  • Establish best practices for performance optimisation, cost control, and security

Implementation & Delivery

  • Lead hands‐on development of Snowflake solutions (schemas, transformations, pipelines)
  • Build and optimise batch and near‐real‐time ingestion pipelines
  • Integrate Snowflake with upstream and downstream systems (APIs, data lakes, BI/reporting tools)

Data Integration & Financial Data Expertise

  • Design robust ingestion and normalisation of financial datasets (positions, transactions, market data, pricing, reference data)
  • Ensure strong data consistency, lineage, and traceability across portfolio management workflows

Governance & Security

  • Implement data governance frameworks including access control, auditing, and data quality monitoring
  • Ensure compliance with financial data regulations and client security requirements

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as technical lead across the delivery lifecycle, mentoring engineers and promoting best practices
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and client stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Influence tooling, standards, and technology direction across the data platform

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Deep, hands‐on expertise with Snowflake, including architecture, performance tuning, and cost optimisation
  • Strong knowledge of Snowflake features such as Snowpipe, Streams & Tasks, data sharing, and zero‐copy cloning
  • Proven experience designing and building enterprise‐scale data warehouses
  • Excellent SQL skills and experience with modern ELT tools (e.g. dbt, Airflow, or similar)
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Strong background building data pipelines and system integrations (APIs, message queues, file‐based ingestion)
  • Experience handling semi‐structured data (JSON, Parquet, Avro)
  • Strong software engineering mindset: CI/CD, testing, version control, infrastructure‐as‐code
  • Ability to balance architectural leadership with hands‐on delivery

Highly Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Financial services experience, particularly asset management data models (portfolios, holdings, trades, valuations)
  • Understanding of market data vendors and financial data workflows
  • Experience with data cataloguing and governance tools
  • Familiarity with real‐time streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka)
  • Exposure to regulatory reporting or risk analytics platforms
  • Experience working in a SaaS or product‐led environment

Why Join Luxoft?

  • Lead the design of mission‐critical data platforms used by global financial institutions
  • Work on complex, high‐impact data and cloud programmes
  • Collaborate with top‐tier engineers, architects, and clients
