Head of Business Improvement

Lynx Recruitment is working with a leading consulting organisation to appoint a Head of Business Improvement to shape and lead enterprise-wide transformation strategy.

This is a senior leadership role with accountability for improvement direction, governance, portfolio oversight, and executive-level influence.

You will set the strategic direction for business improvement, aligning operating models, technology, and delivery capability to drive sustained performance improvement across complex programmes.

This role requires enterprise-level thinking, executive gravitas, and strong commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and lead the improvement strategy and governance framework
  • Design and oversee multi-year transformation roadmaps
  • Align strategy, operating models, and technology delivery
  • Influence C-suite stakeholders with clear investment cases and trade-offs
  • Establish standards, guardrails, and portfolio-level decision frameworks
  • Lead cross-functional coalitions delivering enterprise change
  • Sponsor digital, automation, and data-led improvement initiatives
  • Build and mentor improvement capability
Essential Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • A minimum 2:1 in an IT / Technology-related degree
  • Deep expertise in the Business Improvement discipline, linking strategy to measurable enterprise outcomes
  • Strong experience in process re-engineering and operating model design
  • Experience leading complex programmes incorporating project and change management
  • Executive gravitas — able to influence Board/C-suite stakeholders with credibility and composed authority
  • Resilience and adaptability in complex, high-stakes environments
  • Strong understanding of software development and SDLC, with confidence engaging in discussions around software-enabled transformation

Desirable:

  • Experience contributing to or leading business development
  • Experience building improvement capability or communities of practice
