Test Environment Modernisation Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Test Environment Modernisation Consultant to join a leading retail organisation on a 6-month contract. This role will help redefine how non-production environments operate across a complex enterprise technology landscape.

The Role:

You will work across a diverse estate—including SAP ECC/S4, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Java/.NET platforms, integration services, and external partner interfaces—to design and implement a modern, consistent, and scalable environment model that supports both product and project delivery. This is a collaborative and influential role requiring technical breadth and strong stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess current DEV/TEST/Pre-Prod environments across 70+ systems.
• Map dependencies, refresh processes, and integration behaviours.
• Design enterprise environment strategies, reference architectures, and lifecycle policies.
• Produce environment naming conventions, governance frameworks, and RACI models.
• Develop integration environment patterns to support end-to-end testing.
• Facilitate workshops and align multiple stakeholder groups.
• Support environment build-out planning and transition roadmaps.

Required Experience & Skills:

• 10+ years in environment management, DevOps, or technical architecture.
• Experience delivering environment strategy or consolidation programmes.
• Exposure to SAP ECC/S4, ServiceNow, Salesforce, and integration platforms.
• Cloud/on-prem knowledge (Azure advantageous).
• CI/CD, DevOps, automation experience.
• Strong communication, influencing, and workshop facilitation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.

Contract Details:

• 6 months
• 1–2 days per week (Hatfield)
• £565/day, outside IR35
